NEW Faculty Members for 2018-19

A new school year brings new faculty members to Heritage High!  

Dr. Rachel Kemp will join the HHS faculty as a science teacher.  Dr. Kemp taught chemistry for 12 years at Ringgold High before staying home for a few years to take care of her children.

Mr. Cody Lee comes to HHS from Lafayette High.  He will teach social studies and replace Mr. Daniel Kubin.  Mr. Lee is a graduate  (B.S. and master's) of Lee University.

Mrs. Amber Gill Schmitz comes to HHS from SE Whitfield High.  She was a student teacher at HHS a couple of years ago with Mrs. Cosby and graduated from Coventant College.  Mrs. Schmitz will teach 9th and 10th grade English and replace Mr. Stephen Bruce.

Former Teacher of the Year and math department head Mrs. Loraine Young returns to HHS part time after retiring in 2017.  She will teach Accelerated Pre-Calculus.

Mrs. Angie Mathis will move from Heritage Middle to Heritage High and teach math.

Mrs. Leila Parker joins the HHS faculty as an English teacher.  She is coming to us from Lakeview Middle School and received her B.S. degree at Dalton State and master's at Liberty University.

Mrs. Shauntae Shoelen has been recommended to the superintendent and school board to replace Mr. Thomas Gray as a math teacher at HHS.  Mrs. Shoelen was a student teacher at HHS and is a Dalton State graduate.

Mr. Jonathan Eaves has been recommended to the superintendent and school board to join the HHS faculty as a special education teacher and assistant football coach.  Mr. Eaves previously taught at East Hamilton.

Mrs. Sue Everett has been recommended to the superintendent and school board to replace math teacher Ms. Desiree Robinson.  Mrs. Everett previously taught at Soddy Daisy.

Other Faculty Changes:

Mr. Brian Dodson will move from the math department to take the place of Engineering, Drawing and Design teacher Mr. John Crawford, who retired.

Dr. Lisa Godfrey will move from teaching American Sign Language to English (replacing Mrs. Aime Welch), although she will still teach ASL III-IV.  Mrs. Sayra Cook will replace Dr. Godfrey as the new ASL teacher.

Mrs. Kay Steele is retiring but will return to HHS part time as an English Special Education teacher.

Mr. Ron Tollett has been split between LFO and HHS for several years, but will be full time at HHS for 2018-19.  He teaches German and we will be able to offer German III and IV for the first time!

Mrs. Carla Stephens has retired from full time education but will retun to HHS as a part time Reading Specialist.

Mrs. Wendy Mylek has retired and will be replaced by Mrs. Angie Trentham.

Dr. Jason Scott will now be a full time assistant principal.
